Fitting a bra in the 1st trimester

How to know what size bra to buy when pregnant? 1st Trimester | Hotmilk

It's one thing to know your body will change during pregnancy and postpartum, but another to embrace changes you have no control over.

Hotmilk Lingerie Solace Nursing Bra

Often the change in breast size can be daunting, those with smaller cup sizes may find the sudden increase either a welcome surprise or a challenge, while those with larger cup sizes may worry about how much they'll grow and whether they can find beautiful maternity lingerie in their size.

While these changes are beyond our control, support is available. Hotmilk Lingerie continues to develop maternity intimates in sizes ranging from A to J cup (M cup in the US), ensuring the perfect fit for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Measuring your bra size in the First Trimester

How do I know what size bra to buy when pregnant?

1-3 months or under 12 weeks (It’s generally about the boobs!)

This is when most women find out they are pregnant, changes in cup shape size and fullness can occur at this time. Newly pregnant mums will often find they are “Spilling” out of their regular cup size or experiencing tenderness, multi-fit maternity bra styles like Warrior Soft Cup or My Necessity are great at these times. Expecting mums may also feel like their band is quite tight. Most women will need to go up at least a cup size and band size * however there is no hard and fast rule as every mama's journey is different. Shop First Trimester Maternity Bras

Hotmilk Bra measurement guide

Steps to measure for your bra.

STEP 1) Wearing your best-fitting non-padded bra (not one you are spilling out of).
STEP 2) Measure quite tightly underbust for your band size - Your bra won't fit tight but the underbust measurement needs to be tight to get the right size!
STEP 3) Measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust - this will guide you to your cup size E, F, FF etc
STEP 4) Using your measurement follow the bra measurement guide. Example - underbust 75cms, overbust 96cms = 12DD

  • The ideal band fit in the first trimester for your maternity bra is on the tighter hooks, this will allow room to extend the band throughout your pregnancy as your baby grows.
